Advice for the Lockdown Blues

lockdown blues

Recently I was asked some thoughtful questions regarding yoga practice during this time of COVID 19. Click on the image to be transported to the article that is shared with another inspiring yogini.

During lockdown we have a comprehensive online class timetable. Including regular classes of progressive levels, plus a meditation & philosophy class + 2 gentle yoga and meditation classes (50:50) + 1 gentle yoga and yoga nidra class (long guided relaxation = bliss).

If you are able, come to our online sessions and let yoga work its magic for you.

What kind of magic you ask?
Well, technically it is pure science, but it is so amazing that it feels like magic! Off the top of my head I can think of the following. What other points of magic would you include?

Asana (yoga exercises/ postures) helps

  • stretching, strengthening and balanced movement releases tension & pain thereby assisting us being at ease in our body
  • the movement stimulates those hormones that make us feel happy
  • works like a general acupuncture treatment to help our energy move freely that has the effect of supporting our health and lifting our vitality

Relaxation helps

  • reduce the stress response
  • not get caught up in the stress
  • experience life from a relaxed inner space (as opposed to a tense one) changes everything for the better
  • shift our inner dialogue
  • have a better quality relationship with ourselves and others
  • keep our heart open even through difficult times

Yoga breathing helps

  • balance the nervous system & thereby helping to balance all the body systems
  • deepen relaxation
  • slow the thoughts and guide them to the present moment
  • calm the restlessness of body and mind
  • lift and balance the energy of body and mind

Meditation helps

  • calm and focus the mind
  • be present
  • see things from a clearer and broader perspective
  • respond instead of react
  • focus on what is truely important and not get caught in the drama

Yoga Wisdom helps

  • reminding us that change is a constant, nothing stays the same
  • developing our experience of our own inner strength
  • let go and flow without tension or resistance
  • learn to do the best with what presents
  • see the bigger picture of life and take from what this chapter has to offer us for our own personal evolution
