Our class in Doncaster that was running since 2002 has sadly come to an end.

But just next door we have started a new class in Templestowe that we hope you can join. We offer a wholistic yoga experience that beginners are also welcome to.

A General Level 1 - 2 class.

Not too hard & not too easy. Level 1 is a foundation level and this class uses it as a base for the next levels of classical yoga poses. Suitable for beginners and people with yoga experience.

ABOUT THE CLASSES:


Yoga in Daily Life is an authentic, traditional and holistic style of yoga. Classes include yoga exercises (asanas), guided breath work, relaxation and meditation following the internationally renowned system of Yoga in Daily Life ®.

 

The classes offer you guidance in the practice of classical asanas (physical exercises) both passive and dynamic that will build strength and increase flexibility in the body; you will be guided to practice safely and begin to experience their deeper benefits on the nervous system, internal organs and glands, and the mind such as:

  • increase strength & flexibility
  • correct body balance and posture
  • reduce stress & anxiety
  • improve concentration
  • ignite your digestion
  • boost health & vitality
  • cultivate inner clarity and peace

Classes run in term blocks (generally in line with school terms), and bookings are for the whole term. Bookings Essential.

A lovely spacious quiet room with natural light and heating + cooling. The floor is vinyl, so you may choose to bring a thicker yoga mat or 2 for extra cushioning. Parking onsite.

 

Useful Things to Know Before Attending the Classes:
  • The classes are suitable for beginners and those with some yoga experience.
  • On your first class please arrive about 10 minutes earlier. This will give time for you to meet the instructor and settle in before the session begins. Your instructors name is Gopal.
  • Classes included the yoga exercises (asanas), relaxation, breathing practices and meditation.
  • Inform the instructor before class of any injury, if you are pregnant, or if you are on medication.
  • Classes are guided and precautions will be given to help you take care in your practice. Please always practice at your own comfortable capacity. Stop if you need to. Let the instructor know of any specific conditions so they can give extra instruction to help you take care.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing that will allow easy movement of your body. No shoes, but socks are good if it’s cold.
  • It is recommended that you do not eat a meal 2 hours before the class.
  • BRING your own yoga mat. Also please bring a cushion & something to cover your body (blanket or shawl) to be comfortable for relaxation and meditation.
  • Bring a bottle of water if you think you will need it during the class.
  • Missed classes can be made up by attending at one of our other locations or online during the term and term break. They cannot be carried over to the next term of classes.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:


Most classes include asana (yoga exercises/ postures), relaxation, guided breath techniques (pranayam) & meditation.


We understand that everyone comes to yoga for different reasons. You will always be encouraged to practice at your own comfortable capacity. Guidance will be given on how to gradually work in to the practices, and you can then develop yourself at your own pace.

 

Yoga in Daily Life is an authentic and progressive system of yoga. Learn more about Yoga in Daily Life the System > here. Through Yoga in Daily Life practices you'll experience balanced energy, lightness of body and mind and a feeling of calm clarity. In every class you'll learn something new and with regular practice you'll see improvements through every area of life. 

 

Level 1 - A unique set of practices that you will not find elsewhere. This level is ideal for those who prefer a gentle practice or who have, for example, a sore back, chronic fatigue or other health conditions that require you to take care. Never underestimate the potent benefits of a gentle practice. Practising of this level creates a solid foundation that is excellent for maintaining balanced health and preparing to safely practice the next levels. 
If you are new to yoga we recommend you at Level 1. However this level is beneficial for everyone no matter your experience or level of ability. 

 

Level 1 and yoga nidra - In the quiet of a Sunday afternoon here is a chance to slow down and unwind. An opportunity for release of deep muscular, mental and emotional tension. The session includes a gentle sequence of asanas and 30 - 40 minute yoga nidra (guided deep relaxation). The class leaves you feeling balanced in body, mind and soul.  

 

Level 2 - This class uses level 1 as a base and systematically introduces the next levels. Suitable for people who are still learning the basics. A harmonious practice to experience traditional yoga postures as you develop your strength, flexibility and focus. With energizing and balancing sequences, breath techniques, meditation and relaxation. Combined with knowledge about the benefits of each posture, techniques to practice correctly, care to make it work for you and some wisdom woven in.

 

Level 3  - an challenging practice that is nourishing and balancing all at the same time. Not suited for beginners or people who prefer a gentle class. Systematically develop your strength, flexibility, fitness, balance, concentration and build mental fortitude. With a regular practice you will experience the far reaching effect on all bodily functions, including better digestion, stronger immune system, balanced nervous system and equilibrium in the mind and emotions.

 

General - an open level class.  Usually not too easy & not too hard.

 

Philosophy & Meditation - An ongoing weekly exploration of yogic philosophy with a guided meditation practice.
