Easter Retreat 2023 Inspiration & Photos

Our annual Easter Yoga Retreat in Hepburn Springs was again a blissful experience. And we have booked again for 2024!

We started by inviting ourselves into the sacred pause of the long weekend to give ourselves what ever it was we needed or wanted for our wellbeing and inner growth.

Some snippets of inspiration that were shared over the weekend are following ...

Our life is made up of all the small daily actions we take. It is the little things and small steps that come together to create the big picture. We took some reflection time to consider what we want our health and our life to be, and if necessary, what small steps, what little habits we can start creating to head in that direction, starting at the retreat and continuing after.

To be born a human is so rare. As we take time in our lives to slow down, relax, be silent, we see more clearly and honestly the way we function in our life. Yoga teaches us to inquire:

  • Is this really who I am?
  • Am I expressing my human qualities?
  • Who am I when my heart is open?
  • What is the truth of who I am and am I living according to that?

Of course the answers may change as we learn and unfold.

“You become what you give your attention to.” -Epictetus

This is a topic that our Yoga Master, Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, has been mentioning in his recent Satsangs.  What ever we focus on, what ever we practice, that is what gets stronger.

To grow what we want in our life, one tip to support that is when we experience that what we want, such as a state of stillness, an open hearted love, compassion, kindness, understanding, deep wisdom, any of the human or divine qualities, then be awake and immersed in the experience for at least 30 seconds. Strengthen the memory of it, strengthen the neural pathways. Then the  more we focus on that which we want in our life and practice it, eventually the more it expresses naturally.

The quality, the content and direction, of our attention determines the quality of our life. This includes the people and conversations we engage with, what we watch, listen to and read, what ever informs us also shapes us. Knowing this, we can now consciously allocate our attention properly. Our attention, our focus is for us to choose where we want it to go, to what we prioritise in our life. Our attention, our focus is like a currency, and it is up to us how we spend it.
